Today we get the news of yet another GOP rat leaving the sinking ship that is the Bu$hCo (mis)administration. Over the last few weeks, Tony Snow, Karen Hughes, Fran Townsend, and now chief economics advisor Hubbard have announced their departures. While this is probably not all that unusual for a lame duck administration, I keep thinking back to something we heard during the summer that indicates, to me anyway, that Bu$hCo is more lame (lamer?) than most. Follow me over the jump and down memory lane:
Think back to that heady day when we learn that Karl "Turd Blossom" Rove was stepping down as GWB's chief advisor/hatchet man. The WSJ story is here, but the thing that keeps coming back to me is found buried deep in the article:
He [Rove] said he decided to leave after White House Chief of Staff Joshua Bolten told senior aides that if they stayed past Labor Day they would be obliged to remain through the end of the president's term in January 2009.
What do these departures say about Bolton's leadership as GWB's Chief of Staff? Obviously, no one is paying any attention to his directive about staying through 01/09. Does Bolton have any control over the loyal "Bushies"? Who, if anyone, is running the show there at 1600? Or is this "Titanic" failure completely rudderless?
See the poll below and tell us who you think is running day-to-day operations in Dubya's White House.
