Okay: Good lord. I thought the quotes was enough to suggest that I was not actually advocating this. Apparently not.
Paulites are trying to raise money to put a full page ad in High Times magazine (for those who are unaware, it's a magazine about recreational marijuana use.)

Here is some reddit discussion:

Will this backfire for him? Could appealing directly for an end to the drug war be a net positive in this election and among the American public in general? Or will backlash from social conservatives more than outweigh the advantages?
I would like to take a second to talk about my credentials. Look up my comments. I am a democrat, I am committed to electing democrats. I have never, nor would I ever, vote Republican. Although I admire some aspects of libertarianism--civil rights, in particular--I think libertarians, in general and in practice, simply support corporatism.
I think the analysis of Ron Paul supporters would be useful to the democratic party. They are part of the reason that the republicans are disintegrating from within. As a group that is changing things, they are worth watching.
There are a large number of disgrunted "fuck you" kids out there...the pseudo-libertarians who are against invasion of privacy, against the drug war, etc. They are part of the split of the republican party (since they have essentially nothing in common with the social conservative religious right.) How they act will play a significant role in this election. In particular, they may be persuaded to vote Democrat if Democrats manage to become the party of civil liberties. I think they are an interesting, well-defined group rising in significance: the wannabe technocrats. Will they be a force for good or evil? I think, in part, how we act will play a role in the answer to that question.
And part of that is trying to see what will happen to their current savior when (as I believe) he fails in the primary. Will we be ready to welcome this group? Or will they be alienated from the electoral process in general? Or will the repubs nominate some tough guy, like a certain Mayor of NYC, who will manage to keep them in the republican fold?
