This is more of a rant than anything else (and something I am typically loathe to do). I have absolutely had it with the Iowa caucus's and their systematic disenfranchisement of potential (and even likely voters). It is well known that the caucus's have extremely low turnout and in fact actively disenfranchise many what would be potential primary voters and yet our candidates (all of them) still pander to this mockery of the democratic process. I am ashamed of them all.
The title caught your attention didn't it?
What I would have liked to have seen is for one of the big three (any of them) to come out and say:
"I will not campaign in Iowa because that state mocks the democratic process by disenfranchising our active military personnel, the disabled and housebound, second and third shift workers (many of who are union members), the poor (who cannot get sitters), and those that believe a secret ballot is sacrosanct to our democracy."
I find it absolutely unfathomable that we (any of us) are willing to support a process that actively disenfranchises a higher percentage of potential (and likely voters) than the Republicans ever have in a general election. We have no right to complain about Diebold, Bush v Gore, or anything else if we are then so willing to support the abomination that is the caucus process in Iowa.
