The wire services are reporting that Romney has taken 6 of the 12 national delegates that will represent Wyoming at the Republican convention.
One went to Fred Thompson
One went for Duncan Hunter
The other four are TBD.
Wyoming was penalized by the Republican party for moving up it's caucuses.
The Republican National Committee has slashed half of Wyoming's 28 national convention delegates. National party leaders similarly penalized Florida, Michigan, New Hampshire and South Carolina for moving up the dates of their nomination contests too.
For those of us who watch Romney closely, it came as no surprise that Mitt would win Wyoming with it's sizeable Mormon populations in the Western part of the state.
Nevada also will be a sleeper for Romney as well as Michigan. Romney's father George was a popular Governor in Michigan and Nevada has sizeable LDS populations in the state as well.
Remember the delegate count... the establishment candidates like Clinton and Romney get sizeable backing from the party regulars and organizations particularly from states that have historically been outside of the nomination process like New Hampshire and Iowa.
Keep your eyes on Romney folks...he'll be a factor in the Rocky Mountain West. I have always thought he would be a dark horse candidate or at least a major delegate broker.
This could be as exciting a convention for the Republicans as it will be for the Democrats.
