I am a customer of Dish NW which is owned by AT&T. For the basic channels you get Free Speech TV, Linkmedia, University of Calif TV, University of Washington TV, etc. Free Speech TV and Link show Democracy Now and other liberal shows and they have fund drives for user support, so one would guess that they would be inexpensive to add to a cabel line up.
The new fiber to the home offering from AT&T, called UVERSE, has all kinds of wizz bang features at the same price of my Dish NW and DSL. My installation was scheduled. They told me that the channels are the same as Dish NW.
UVERSE does not have the channels listed above at any price. I don't think the UVERSE tried hard to get these channels. With 6 companies owning the media and now with the largest phone company not providing liberal channels, it looks bad for our democracy.
I cancelled the installation of UVERSE and will stick with Dish TV.
The sales representative said that the sevice is only a year old and they are adding channels all the time. I sent an email to UVERSE to see what the schedule is for adding these channels.
I worked for AT&T for 25 years when it was Ma Bell. Now it is Big Brother. I will contact the TV stations and hope that it is not a FCC regulation that is blocking the liberal channels.
This is my second diary.
