On Monday, we have a historic vote in the Senate that will tell us whether or not the Democrats are a force for change, or simply a force for more of the same shit we've been getting from Chimpco since 2001.
We've already seen clearly that Harry Reid stands with the Republicans on telcom immunity. We saw today that plenty of Democrats -- including most of the usual suspects -- are going to ONCE AGAIN choose standing strong with Bush over our Constitutional rights and the rule of law.
Follow me across the Great Divide...
On Monday, I'll be watching the Democratic Party in action. It will be a make-or-break moment for my continued participation in the political process as a Democrat. If the Democrats enable telcom immunity to pass, I will abandon them forever as an agent of change. I will change my party membership immediately to Independent. And I will deny Democrats my support and my vote in November, and will instead cast my vote for some candidate or party that deserves them.
Let's face it -- we all know how this vote is going to come down. It's going to be yet another moment of shame where the party I have belonged to for a lifetime takes the thirty pieces of telcom silver and bows down to its master -- George W. Bush -- once AGAIN.
And I won't be the only one. So -- Senate Democrats -- do the right thing on Monday, OR GO FUCK YOURSELVES.
