If Senator Clinton wins the nomination, I will work for her and will hope fervently that she wins. She is smart, experienced, and holds policy views I generally share, despite my preference for Obama. She has been terrific in the debates.
That said....
It is striking and sobering that so many people who have seen the Clintons close at hand, in some cases who have close personal ties over decades, have implicitly or explicitly endorsed Obama. Today we have Ted Kennedy and Toni Morrison. Robert Reich and many others could be added to the list. I suppose there is no point in adding Al Gore to the FFOB list.
Greg Craig, who goes back with the Clintons all the way back to their Yale days, has endorsed Obama. He told the New Yorker that 95% of his reasoning reflected Obama's positive agenda of social change. It's hard not to notice that other 5%.
It says something that so many people who know the Clintons well are making another choice. This is a striking, and unavoidably personal, judgment.
