The New York Times has just posted this story.
New York Times report
Will Cindy McCain flash her with those wolfy blue eyes?
Who would EVER have thought that McCain would be the figure in this race with a Bimbo Eruption?
Celebrations, speculations below.
UPDATE: Although first Keith Olbermann blasted into the rerun of Hardball as if somebody had been shot, it evolves that this is a story the Times has been working on, and McCain fighting against, since at least December -- if you believe a post now on the you know what Report.
The timing is very curious. Who stands to gain from the release of this information at this moment? I would imagine the Times editors thought themselves being fairer to McCain to wait until it appeared he was the probable nominee. Huckabee's campaign may make a little hay with it, but it's hard to imagine those people derailing the Straight Talk Express at this late juncture.
We shall see if this is more than a two-day story. One thing is for sure: without Ken Starr and a special prosecutor, McCain will very likely slide by with his own eruption. Even though the meat of the story is that she was lobbying him on behalf of the TELECOM COMPANIES, which may sound familiar around here.
UPDATE2: The McCain campaign issues a limp statement that feels like a non-denial denial, including chestnuts such as "The American people are sick and tired of this kind of gutter politics." For those who don't speak Republican, that means I AM GUILTY AS HAIL!!!
