The Advocate and the Pulse have recently become ex-gay publications, as revealed by the Philadephia Gay News. The paper, published by Hillary supporter Mark Segal, recently published a front-page headline article on Obama's refusal to speak to the gay press. Readers of several publications that have recently interviewed Obama, including the Advocate and PULSE were shocked to discover they were no longer part of the gay press.
"I feel betrayed" says Joshua Fasillo of New York City. "I was shocked to discover these publications I've followed for years have turned their backs on the gay community. What's worse is that they have continued to pretend to be part of the gay community by publishing numerous news, lifestyle, and celebrity articles of interest and favorable to gays and the GLBT community in general. This stealth ex-gay movement is a real threat to the community."
Leaders of the ex-gay movement are intrigued by the possibility that Obama can make a publication ex-gay merely by talking with them. "We've been trying for centuries to find a successful method to make somebody ex-gay" said a ex-gay movement member, off the record at a gay bar (which he was at only for research purposes.) "If Obama can make publications ex-gay by talking to them, could he do the same to gay men?" He admitted it would be difficult to research the possibility while Obama was distracted by a presidential campaign. "We're considering supporting Hillary to stop him. However, it's very difficult for our members to support a man-hating liberal socialist FemiNazi like Hillary."
The Advocate and PULSE could not be reached for comment.
