In five days the pivotal Democratic primary will be held in Pennsylvania.
It is a close race, but the potential for a result that does not reflect the votes cast is great. Pennsylvania is using electronic machines without a paper printout to verify the votes, one of twelve states that have not passed laws requiring a paper trail. It is a recipe for disaster. As a San Diego citizen, I was dismayed to learn that our new Registrar of Voters, Deborah Seiler, was also the sales representative of Diebold who sold San Diego ten thousand touch screens. The machines have been shown to be hackable, and the ability to rig the vote has increased exponentially by the very nature of computerized voting.
It is incumbant upon Obama supporters to organize some observer committees at the grass roots level to monitor and compare voter counts with results. Exit polls won't do it.
