I made a terrible mistake last night.
I wandered over to No Quarter to view the primordial ooze and ever since I can't stop involuntarily regurgitating my undigested sustenance.
From the front page, under the EVER CHARMING title "I Call A Spade A Spade", someone hiding behind the name PaganPower tells us:
Before the election results came in last night SusanUnPC of No Quarter said something very important in response to a comment I made at the beginning of a thread... in my opinion she is a very wise person that many more of us should listen to.
If all I’m capable of is looking at my arm, seeing the color of my skin, and voting accordingly, I am not worth much.
The above "insight" was a clarification of the diarist's statement about the percentage of African American voters who chose to vote for Senator Obama:
Does anyone actually believe that any group of people have the same political beliefs 90% of the time?
If you read on, take a step back... I'd hate to get my fetid bile all over your shoes.
In the last Presidential election, with the exception of the odd voter who wrote in Bill Cosby or Tiger Woods, 99.99% of WHITE Americans who voted... voted for a WHITE candidate. In that same election, 99.99% of AFRICAN AMERICANS who voted... also voted for a WHITE candidate.
But 99.99% of any group can't have the same political beliefs, right?
So all those white people must be... what?
And all those African Americans... all voting for the WHITE candidate... what's THEIR deal?
Well... wait... let's go back another election.
In the year 2000, 99.99% of WHITE Americans voted for a WHITE candidate and 99.99% of AFRICAN AMERICANS also voted for a WHITE candidate.
Oh, and in 1996? And 1992?
There was a slight rash of black on black voting in 1988 and 1984 when Jesse Jackson was around, but in 1980 and 1976 and 1972 and 1968 and 1964 and 1960 and 1956 and 1952 and 1948 and 1944 and 1940 and 1936 and 1932 and 1928 and 1924 and 1920?
99.99% of WHITE Americans and 99.99% of AFRICAN AMERICANS voted... WHITE.
And adding to my confusion is the fact that in any given election African American's vote Democratic at OVER 90%, so if one takes issue with the communities support of Senator Obama aren't they REALLY wondering if maybe it'd be healthier if a good portion jumped ship for the GOP... just for appearance sake.
No Quarter is supposed to be a DEMOCRATIC site, yes?
(And let me take this opportunity to refer to where blogger-genius twice equates David Axelrod with... wait for it... Adolph Hitler!)
Now there was a period when not one single African-American voted for the WHITE candidate of the cycle, and that was prior to 1865 when "those people" couldn't even be bothered to stop picking the cotton long enough to cast their ballots.
Fucking shocking, isn't it?
So after twenty-three elections in which African-Americans had no role and another thirty-three where the choice was between this WHITE guy and that WHITE guy... after over 200 years... "PaganPower" and Red State and Little Green Footballs and everyone else who wants the White House to be occupied by someone other than Barack Obama has decided there is something terribly unfair and insidious and, based on the clever title, RACIST about 90% of African Americans supporting the African-American man who will very likely be the next President of the United States of America.
I'm going to give the blogger the benefit of the doubt and suggest he/she suffers from nothing more malevolent than heart-stopping, mind-boggling, intellectual bankruptcy when he/she fails to see, accept, or acknowledge that 90% of African-Americans CAN have the same political beliefs or, more specifically, the exact same political motivation.
It's called PRIDE, you flesh-waste.
And go ahead... keep railing against pride, while simultaneously backing a candidate who inspires the VERY SAME emotion in a different part of the electorate.
How's that working for you?
"I am not worth much."
Well, at least we agree on that.
