Okay, I get it. John McCain is old. Really old. Old like the archeological.
He's old. Real old. Gosh, so old. Old. Old.
So fucking what???????
After a very unpleasant primary campaign that put racism and sexism on display, at times using them like electoral currency, why is it now so damn funny to make fun of the guy just because of his age? I mean, if he's so old its funny, Justice Stevens must have you in stitches! And that Senator Byrd guy - how does he show that sagging face in public? Does he really expect to be taken seriously? He's even got the shakes! Clearly he's too old to be taken seriously!
I am not going to go into detail about how revoltingly regressive this kind of joyful celebration of a line of attack that is the very definition of "prejudiced" is. It's way too painfully obvious for that. You wanna make fun of him for outdated ideas, antiquated notions, and an obsolete sense of the world we live in, that's fair game - because its particularized to the person of John McCain, not generalized to include anybody who is "old." DHinMI has a great example of that right here.
This is all so fundamental to who we are and what we represent, I'm appalled that somebody promoted this kind of crap to the front page.
Too bad some of these diarists weren't around when FDR was president. By the time his era was over, he was old and a cripple! How funny would that have been?
