This will most likely be a short diary but I have been thinking about this for awhile and I have come to a decision today that I wanted to share with you -- and to encourage others to join me in that decision.
Starting today, I will be making a monthly contribution to Obama's campaign to help ensure our victory in November. I have stubbornly resisted the many calls here and on other blogs to donate.
As we all know, lots of people on this site are super enthusiasic about Obama. He excites them. He inspires them. I can relate. I was that way about Edwards and I was heartbroken when he dropped out.
Perhaps one day I will be as enthusiastic about Obama -- I hope so. It was fun being that excited about someone. But the realization I came to today is that I don't need to be that excited to give Obama the resources he needs to win.
And it seems clear he needs resources. I saw David Plouffe's video and I don't know if he always looks like this, but to me, he looked a little nervous. Perhaps that's just him, but whatever it was about his expression, it moved me.
So is Obama perfect? Nope.
Do we need to win? Yup.
Does it take hundreds of millions of dollars to win these days? Unfortunately, Yup.
I work for a union and am working with our members in PA to educate them about Obama and mobilize them to support him. Come September, I will be working around the clock to get Obama elected.
I decided today that my work is not enough. I need to contribute $$$$$ as well.
So today, I will be making my first contribution to Obama. The first of many.
Who else will join me?
In Solidarity, and on to victory!
UPDATE: YOWZA!! My first diary on the rec list!! Thanks for the enthusiasm!
