A couple years ago, my husband, FireCrow began frequenting this interesting little political blog called DailyKos. I didn't think much about what he was doing--he surfed the tubes all the time researching new subjects and gathering more insight about the many issues he was very well aware of in our "Land of the Free".
I started lurking myself.
Follow me over the fold:
So, what was this "big deal" about this blog and this dude "Kos"? I lurked. I lurked for a long time before I signed up for an account.
What made me want to stay, lurk, and slowly begin to rec and then comment?
The people. Not just the people. It was what these people were saying(words I was thinking, but not verbalizing), it was what they were writing about(issues I knew of, but not enough about), it was their stories, their real gut-wrenching stories.
I learned more about History from lurking in the Cave of the Moonbat than I ever did from Mr. Hawbecker at Jefferson High(although he was a pretty good teacher compared to the rest).
OPOL, reminding me that no matter what demand to be heard in the face of lies and greed!
I could read the names, light a candle, and cry for the needless loss of those in this horrific war--so honorably written by a loving, caring noweasels whose heart is large enough to give purposeful energy to those who cannot fend for themselves: children and animals, especially the beloved Madison.
I would seek wisdom from the beautiful soul of Cronesense.
Every Sunday, I could count on pastordan, prayers, humor and community.
I have learned more then I ever thought I would about food from orangeclouds115.
There are so many others, many of whom will be in Austin this week. So many who deserve their mention here for their thoughtful writing on education, the war, Congress, candidates, Darfur, the economy, the media, net neutrality, and so much more.
Some will be unable to attend this week, including FireCrow and I due to this "economic downturn".
I will smile when I think of all of you this week, thinking of pie, pooties, ponies, Free Hugs, and kestrels.
I'm glad I stuck around Dkos. I look forward to picking peoples' brains, sharing what I know and knowing my voice will be heard, even if individuals don't agree with me.
As I created this diary, I received a phone call from the United Way--I have a job interview next week! Wish me luck.
Have an awesome time in Austin!!! Share with each other, create lifelong bonds and peace.
You all ROCK! PEACE!!!
