The impeachment movement is in intense huddle after last Friday's bombshells hit C-SPAN out of the House Judiciary Not-yet-Impeachment Hearings (to paraphrase Chairman Conyers, who said, "These aren't impeachment hearings...YET.") The mainstream media ignored it, but the blast was felt, judging by the sharp jump in the number of honks we got the next day on unfurling our trusty "Support the Troops, Impeach Bush and Cheney" banner on the highway overpass. Someone actually watches C-SPAN 2!
Rep. Dennis Kucinich is now calling for congress to postpone its summer recess. This seems an appropriate action now that history will be watching and recording these guys pulling out their fiddles right after warnings were made Friday like: "there has never been a more compelling case for impeachment" (Mayor Rocky Anderson.) And this was on the mild side. Some on the stellar witness panel came that close, in the packed, august chambers of the Judiciary Committee and national TV, to calling George Bush a war criminal.
As I reported, only 17 of the hundreds of people who showed up from across the country got into the hearing room, and the rest were told that the rest of the seats were taken by the media...
Why did they bother? The black-out was complete. House Judiciary official posting of testimoney HERE.
Not the New York Times, not the Washington Post, Not MSNBC reported word one that a hearing had even taken place. It's ok. A nice list of their advertisers is being compiled as I write. There's more than one way to skin a cat. A preview of network news sponsors you can stop rewarding for their shameless censorship TONIGHT (in case you were going shopping): Kellogs, Best Buy, Honda, and ANYTHING DISNEY (the owners of ABC.)
For RIGHT NOW, Kucinich will be submitting a petition which he calls "the only petition that I will deliver" to his colleagues before taking further action, and his deadline is midnight tomorrow, Wed. night. Let's blow it away.

URGENT: need your help -
Impeachment Petition Deadline Midnight Wednesday
Dear Friends,
Because of your vigilance and support for democracy, last Friday was a day of singular importance in Washington. The House Judiciary Committee met to discuss the Bush Administration's abuse of executive power and for the first time the case for Impeachment was discussed in front of a Congressional committee, in depth, at length and with authority.
Twenty members of the Judiciary Committee attended the six hour hearing, during which twelve witnesses, including myself and four members of Congress testified. In this hearing I called for the Impeachment of the President for misrepresenting a case for war.
This week I will present members of Congress with Impeachment petitions submitted by those of you who have signed the on-line impeachment form.
I need your help. In the next few days we must redouble our efforts to get more signatures on the online petition at kucinich.us. I'm asking each of you to please contact at least ten of your friends to go to www.Kucinich.us now and sign the Impeachment petition that will be delivered by me. Wednesday night is the deadline.
Please send out an email to all your friends and family, post this link, http://kucinich.us to your blogs and make this effort count as this is the only petition that I will deliver.
Sign the petitionThank you so very much.
signiture - Dennis J Kucinich

REMINDER, ROVE VOTE TOMORROW!
I am reposting this comment and reminder from Victoria2dc in the body of this diary because of importance, Judiciary Committee to vote whether to hold Karl Rove in contempt, possibly leading to his arrest. LINK to the direct lines(not the HJC switchboard) of HJC members' voicemails, calls all night tonight! The message should be to demand they vote to hold Rove in INHERENT contempt, which could lead to arrest. Thank you Victoria.
...However, tomorrow a.m. John Conyers is holding a full committee vote of the HJC. They are voting to make the decision about whether or not to charge Karl Rove with contempt of Congress.
This is a huge step. We need every HJC Democratic member to vote YES on this. If they vote to hold him in contempt, then it goes to the floor for a vote.
If they initiate inherent contempt then the Sergeant at Arms arrests him and he is jailed in the basement of the House.
This is possible. Tomorrow is the first step of the vote. You can call your member and ask him/her to vote for Rove's contempt when it comes to the floor of the House.
