Obama is generating unprecedented excitement and raking in millions of dollars. He is rewriting the political playbook. Wes Clarke just sent out another hit email about the Republican 'freak machine. Voter registration for Democrats is going through the roof. The Republicans are looking on in terror at a Democratic Party that is lean, mean and marching in lockstep. They see a grassroots movement that is willing to get its hands dirty canvassing, baking cookies to raise money, and digging deep to finance candidates of choice. Tickets to witness Obama's nomination sold out in 72 hours. We are witnessing a Democratic Party revolution. The only dealbreakers that will break our stride are people like Bob Kerry peddling insidious and ugly attacks, giving fodder to the Republicans with his statement that "John McCain is a known quantity. The Democrats are getting feisty these days. 'You don't look at John and say, 'Who the heck is he?' He's a veteran, he's a guy who got pretty banged up in Vietnam. He can deal with crisis. There's some uncertainty about Senator Obama."
I guess he didn't know that Senator Obama was serving in plain sight as a Chicago legislator for a decade. Arnold Schwarzenegger was an actor before he ran for office and I did not hear any such venomous attacks.
The Republican National Committee has blasted out Kerry's quote to reporters. GOPers have much gratitude for people like Bob and Hillary for campaign fodder. Then there are the various demonstrations being planned by groups like '18 Million Voices' and the Denver Group to get Clinton's name in the nomination. The irony is that a woman who garnered that many votes in the primary is complaining that sexism caused her to lose. It defies logic.
