Okay, so I knew I was going to go work my piddly 4 hours at the non-profit today, and I also knew that I was going to need a good laugh. After all, thirty miles round trip for a $44 paycheck doesn't really bring a smile to my face. Good thing it only happens twice a month.
So, the laugh came upon me unexpectedly this morning, while I was reading the online version of the local paper.
Giant inflatable turd wreaks havoc at Swiss art show
Say WHAT??
Of course, I had to read further.
Apparently, the giant dog turd escaped and terrorized the immediate area, damaging a greenhouse roof (was it trying to help the plants grow?), taking down power lines, and landing at a children's museum. I can hear the tour guides now ...
"Children, see the giant brown thing out there on the grounds? It's a really BIG dog turd, and its name is 'Complex Shit'."
This thing is the size of a house! What would they have done if it had landed on a person and smothered them? If it had landed on a dog, there would have been an even greater outcry, despite the poetic justice.
For a picture of this marvel of modern art, go to the BBC story. I can almost smell it. Don't you just love the smell of dog doo in the morning?
On to the comments!
From the lovely submitters who knew WHERE the Top Comments go (TopComments AT gmail DOT com) and even knew to include their Daily Kos handles for easy credit, we have ...
From ArtSchmart:
I'd like to nominate the following comment for Top Comments.
This comment by mapantsula reminds us of the stars we don't always see.
Thanks!
From Indie Tarheel:
From the thread This Is No Longer Obama vs. McCain, I'd like to nominate ActivistGuy's concise take on corporate media's culpability in dumbing down the electorate (and how to fix it).
From The Termite:
Haven't seen religious wingnuttery described quite this well in a long time.
From annetteboardman and lineatus:
In Jeff Leiber's great diary, this comment from llbear really got to me.
From sardonyx:
droogie6655321 is upset that he's one of the few still using asdf as a subject line, and tries for recruits in today's Midday open thread. Unfortunately, as is obvious downthread, very few could be convinced to use these exact characters, though many others were attempted.
From me:
I liked khereva's response to sizzzzlerz in a thread started by Flippant. Lots of good stuff here.
Dood Abides hits the nail on the head in a sadly hilarious comment in dyrrachium's diary.
Top Mojo is provided by sardonyx. Thanks, sar! Mwah!
