Reports have been circulating for weeks that Bill is pissed off. The suggestion was that Bill felt the Obama people had not shown the proper deference toward him.
Everyone was worried about Bill’s speech - would he really embrace Obama? Or was Bill still to so upset about being slighted that his support would be merely lukewarm.
Yes, Bill is upset but not at Obama. Clinton is upset that Bush’s reckless policies squandered his economic surplus. Clinton did a great job of cleaning up the economic mess that Reagan’s and Poppy Bush’s administrations left our country in. In spite of the relentless right wing attacks and the impeachment distraction, Clinton turned it around and left us with a surplus by the end of his second term.
Then along comes the prodigal son who squanders everything and will exit office leaving the U.S. and the world at war and in economic meltdown. Bill isn’t pissed at Obama he is pissed a Bush.
Bill Clinton built up our military - a military that has performed well. But Bush misused and abused our military power. Rather than "Speak softly and carry a big stick," Bush took the big stick and started wacking nations just because he didn’t like them.
Bush rejected Jesus, the man he claims to most admire. His policy was not to "turn the other cheek" or even retaliate with an "eye for an eye." Bush’s official policy is the pre-emptive strike or hit the other guy before they "might" hit us.
We torture.
Our international status and good will has been trashed. One of Clinton’s best lines was, "People the world over have always been more impressed by the power of our example than by the example of our power."
Bill isn’t pissed at Obama he is pissed a Bush.
