It is now official. This year's wingers don't have a freaking clue. How else to explain the fact that, according to ABCnews.com, Bush will address the RNC tomorrow.
Bush to Speak to Republican Convention
ABC’s George Stephanopoulos reports: After skipping the opening day of the Republican National Convention to personally check the emergency response to Hurricane Gustav, President George W. Bush will keep his appointment with the party faithful.
Bush will speak to the RNC Tuesday in St. Paul, one day after the convention opened to an abbreviated schedule due to the storm.
More after the fold.
I mean they can't even accept the apparent political "gift" they were afforded by Hurricane Gustav. I understand how horrible the hurricane is for the people in the regions it is effecting. I would never wish such a tragedy on anyone. But, to me, the thugs had basically dodged a major bullet when Gustav gave Bush an excuse for not attending and addressing the RNC. Now I don't know if he will actually be in attendance or whether it will be via satellite, but jeez, how freaking dumb do the GOP operatives have to be to have him address the convention at all when they could have so easily gotten away with avoiding it. Not only that, but now he'll be addressing the convention a day closer to the end. Weren't they trying to portray McSame as separate and different from Bush? This simply does them no good.
Could it be that the RNC is in such a panic over the putrid pick of Palin that they actually think having Mr. 29% seen and closely associated with their convention is better than another day of media Palin vetting? Or is it just that they have become totally incompetent campaigners in the modern political environment. From now on, when someone thinks about posting a diary about how we are all falling for the latest right wing trap when we attack McSame and Hunty McNoabortions ever over some obviously stupid move or statement, I hope they'll think twice and realize it's entirely possible they just really are that dumb.
