As noted by Feedback, it appears that the McCain/Palin campaign doesn't intend to make Palin availible to the press. It seems as if Palin is already measuring the drapes for Cheney's undisclosed location. What follows here is brief rant and a call to action.
How can the McCain/Palin folks be so contemptuous of democracy as to literally deny the press any chance to talk with the vice presidential candidate? Are they serious? At McCain's age there's at least a 1 in 3 chance that, if elected, Palin could end up being president. Would the republicans have her first press conference ever as President?!
Who would have believed that a Vice Presidential candidate could simply refuse to talk to the press? The presidency of the United States is serious business. The republicans and the press need to take it seriously. It is simply unacceptable for a candidate in a race for such a high public office to be completely unavailible to reporters, particularly one so ill-known.
It's time for the press to get serious and to demand access. Contact the networks. They owe it to their country to ask questions of those individuals so confident of their skills that they hope to hold our highest offices.
