I just watched Joe Biden show America why he was selected to be our next Vice President. I've been looking forward to his appearance on "Meet the Press" all week, and he did not disappoint. His answers on Iraq, his views on choice, and Sarah-America's sweetheart-were of course a bit long, but showed an expertise that few could question.
First of all, let me say that Brokaw is a terrible moderator. I may as well have watched O'Reilly give the interview (he was even mentioned.) Nothing but "when did you stop beating your wife" questions. But that didn't matter, because we have Joltin' Joe.
Of course the show started off with Sarah questions. Clips were shown of a McCain rally, with tons of women that showed up for "Sarah." Brokaw pointed out that her fans are on a first name basis with her.
Joe basically towed the party line on this one, but the way he pointed out what an empty vessel Sarah Palin is was spot on. "I don't know what her positions are-I assume they're John's."
Then we move on to Iraq. And by all that's holy, they showed Bill O'Reilly interviewing Barack Obama about the surge. They brought up Joe's opposition to the surge earlier in the year, and his opposition before that. Tom tried to steal Bill's maneuvers, and tried to get him to say "The Surge Worked!" but Joe freakin' Biden wasn't having any of that. He explained what we all know (that, somehow, the Surge wasn't magic and didn't work on its own) and it was glorious.
After that, Joe gave one of the smartest and most articulate answers on abortion, and its relationship to religion, and its one that truly got to the core of the issue. Just because some may feel that life begins at birth, does not mean that we all do.
He went on to defend his bankruptcy bill, and the absolutely miniscule amount of lobbyist money he's taken over the years. I haven't found a video for that yet, I'll try and find it.
All in all, I was impressed, as always, with Joe Biden. Sure he can be a little longwinded, but he definitely knows his stuff. I wish he had gone on the attack a bit more, but that doesn't seem to be the campaign strategy. I gotta say, can you imagine Palin even trying to keep up with what Joe was talking about in that interview?
GO BLOODY THEIR NOSE, JOEY!!!
