I apologize if this is a bit off format. I was studying this afternoon when I received a phone call from 805-466-1425. The call was what I assume to be a pollster, though not a very well informed one apparently. The person on the line was calling to ask me about Prop. 8, the defense of marriage act and claiming that their funding comes from a site called http://www.protectmarriage.com/... She was very prepared with how they have one million signatures for the initiative, never mind that is less than three percent of california voters. The pollster was also very specific that they were not a religious group nor had any religious affiliation. Although, after checking the endorsements list I would question this statement.
But my main questions are these:
- Is anyone else on here getting these calls?
- Does anyone know who the funding behind the above website is? They seemed very keen on being vague.
- Could this be some kind of premise to voter registration purging in California?
I know the last one could be a conspiracy theory run amok but in the current political climate even Hollywood writers have said "we could not write this stuff because no one would take it seriously." Just some questions I have for the general populace, preferably of the California persuasion. But any input would be appreciated.
Thanks!
