The fact that he wouldn't look at Obama not withstanding... I have an observation to share that I searched for, but haven't seen mentioned here on KOS. Now, there's been a lot of comments on KOS during the past 24 hours, so forgive me if this is a repeat.
I was unable to watch the debate last night as I was flying home from a business trip. Lord knows I tried, but there was just no making it home before the debate. Now that I've watched the whole thing in its entirety, I have something to share:
I think McBush was not only obviously avoiding looking at Obama, but - he was looking at the WRONG CAMERA! If you think about where Jim Lehrer was sitting, with McCain to his left, and Obama to his right, the camera for McGrumpy would have been behind Lehrer's right shoulder, and the camera for Obama would have been behind Lehrer's left shoulder. Grampy was focused on a place that initially appeared to be somewhere in the audience, but I now believe he was focused instead on the wrong camera.
There was one small period during the second half of the debate, when they got into the discussion of Pakistan, it almost seemed as if McCain got some cue from off stage, and for the only time during the entire debate, actually looked (ok, it was not a look - it was a serious squint) into the proper camera. He then went back to speaking to his right side... where Obama's camera was solidly focused... you guessed it... on ... Barack Obama. The viewers never got to see McNasty speaking squarely into the camera.
This means... our little Johnny never really spoke to ANYONE (and not just metaphorically).
:-)
Kinda of a double whammy, if you ask me.
