CNN is reporting that Jill Biden's mother has passed away.
Friday's news reported:
ABC News has confirmed that Jill Biden's mother, Bonny Jacobs, is is receiving care for a serious illness in nearby Pennsylvania. In fact, Biden took a later train to Washington, DC, last Wednesday for the Senate vote on the economic bailout package due to a conference call with doctors on the situation. The illness of Jill Biden's mother comes at the same time as Sen. Biden's son Beau deploys to Iraq. Beau, Delaware state attorney general and a captain in the National Guard, starts his deployment Sunday with training in Fort Bliss, Texas.
Having recently lost a parent to cancer, I know how hard this day is for Jill. I extend my most heartfelt condolences. Strength and peace to all the Bidens and Jacobs today.
Update [2008-10-5 19:28:8 by Eileen B]:Bonnie Jacobs was 78 and lived in Willow Grove, Pa. She is described as a "homemaker and avid gardener with a lifelong love of reading."
Personally, I'm going to donate $25 to Plant A Row For The Hungry to honor Bonny. I'll keep watch for any charitable suggestions directly from the Biden/Jacobs family, but as of right now, I haven't found any. Please post a comment below if you've seen an update on how the Biden family would like people to honor her life. Perhaps Mrs. Jacobs had a favorite charity?
Please join me in a moment of silence.
