Today, as diaried by kittycat9, the McCain camp released this statement regarding the Obama camp's response to the nastiness of the latest McCain/Palin rallies:
Barack Obama’s attacks on Americans who support John McCain reveal far more about him than they do about John McCain. It is clear that Barack Obama just doesn’t understand regular people and the issues they care about. He dismisses hardworking middle class Americans as clinging to guns and religion, while at the same time attacking average Americans at McCain rallies who are angry at Washington, Wall Street and the status quo.
Well i'm one of those regular people who you claim Obama does not understand and i'd like to set the record straight.
I'm a regular woman. I am blessed to have just barely made the cut-off by not being pink-slipped from my job that i've been working hard at since 2004. We employed approximately 650 people. Over this summer, 200 were laid off, including 3 close friends of mine who have yet to find other jobs paying decent wages. We all support Barack Obama.
I'm a regular woman. I do not own a house. I would love to though. I'm only 25 years old but i've had the dream of owning my own home since I was a little girl and i've always been responsible with my money. I have fairly good credit (I should probably bold 'fairly' at this day in time when anything under 700 is shit to a lender) I make enough to pay my bills and i've never, ever missed a car note or rent payment. But I could not get a bank loan for a small home that was well within my means. Neither could my aunt who makes wayyy more than I do, has been a nurse for 13 years and would also like to be a home OWNER. Why? You need not ask. Just look at all of the news headlines around you about the financial shit ditch we are nose deep in. That's why. My aunt and I support Barack Obama.
I'm a regular woman. I'm enrolled in college and I take 3 night classes a week to acquire my degree. Luckily, California has paid for my schooling thus far due to good grades, a few well-written essays and a ton of prayers. Last week I received a letter from my financial aid advisor informing me that as of spring 2009,due to financial crisis, monies that have been covering my tuition will be cut. CUT. Not reduced. CUT. I didn't see this coming. Tuition is not cheap. I don't know what i'm going to do, but I have to bust my ass to do something because I will graduate. I'll find a way to pay because i've worked too hard to get here, and I will finish. I support Barack Obama.
I'm a regular woman. My healthcare premiums are not pretty. That's putting it nicely. They're actualy butt-face hog ass ugly. My check bleeds every single month for not-so-great insurance that I shouldn't complain about because at least i'm covered. There are many people, many families, many children, many elderly who do not have insurance. Most of us, i'm willing to bet, support Barack Obama.
I'm a regular woman. I slowed down as I was driving near a gas station today because I could use a fill-up. But that damn 3.89 per gallon truly hurts everytime i get the receipt back. And i'm not a penny-pincher by nature. I just don't have 40 bucks to spend on gas twice a week. I kept driving past the station in search for something a little more reasonable. Never found it. My tank is still below half. I support barack Obama.
I'm a regular woman. I will have children with my partner one day relatively soon and I plan on loving them to death and raising them as well as I know how. I plan on teaching them the true meaning of values, respect, honor, patriotism and equality. Myself and my partner support Barack Obama.
I'm a regular woman. I love and believe in God. I'm not heavily religious, but i'm very spiritual. There's a difference. I steadily pray for and support Barack Obama.
I'm a multi-racial young woman who has
- never owned ONE home, let alone 7
- never owned multiple cars
- never owned a private jet
- never spent 14,000 on a pantsuit
- never took for granted the amount of dollars I have in my bank account because um.... there really isn't that much.
- never had a trustfund
- probably never will.
I am one of those regular people, Senator McCain and the angry/hate-filled/rabid tone of your campaign not only disgusts me personally, but it sets our society back so many decades that you should be ashamed of yourself everytime you even attempt to look into a mirror. I fully understand that you, nor Polly Pocket Palin do not and never will understand me and my "regularity." But guess what? I 100% support someone who 100% does.
