A heads up about local debates in South Carolina

South Carolina public television, SCETV, has been hosting debates for U.S. House and Senate races.  At their debate website they archive the debates so that you can view online.

Of particular interest is tonight's 8PM U.S. Senate debate between Lindsey Graham and Bob Conley.  Conley has gotten some interest here because of his nine point lag behind Graham.  Here you can see for yourself if Flattop Bob's actually a viable candidate or a clown.

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.

but I would probably not vote for Conley if I lived in SC.  He is a Ron Paul nut case who if elected would be an embarrassment in the Democratic caucus.

I grew up in SC.  I was there for the election of Demint and election of Graham.  Graham has actually done perhaps three things I approved of.  Demint has done zero - literally.

      •  I wouldn't vote for Graham either (0+ / 0-)

he's a piece of trash too, but he's better than average for a Rethug.

        •  I used to think along these lines. (0+ / 0-)

But he's just an opportunist looking to pal around with McCain in the White House. He's a weasel of the highest caliber. Not quite republican, but then not quite representative of SC. I think he fell in love with the national spotlight when he was a representative during the Clinton Impeachment circus.

      •  DeMint is awful, indeed. (0+ / 0-)

Long for Fritz. Strom can stay gone, nice man, but he's obviously done.

from electing shitty senators in SC : )

I haven't yet viewed the debate, but I know coming in that Flattop Bob is just a wingnut covered in blue paint. I'll still vote for the yahoo. At least he won't be stitched to former POWs on their busses.

we can get enough votes to get rid of good ole Joe Wilson  head of the "win at all costs caucus in Iraq" talk about useless

    •  Miller, he is actually a progressive. (0+ / 0-)

Still, conservative by outside-the-state comparison, but he seems from his Web site, interviews, ads, and campaign and all, to be a real deal. He would be a better match against Lindsey Graham, but hell, all he needs is a decent monetary push from someone (sure as hell won't be the SCDP) and he might could beat Floyd. I mean Joe Wilson.
