She's a beauty, all right. Not just a beauty QUEEN, but the kind of gal who used to be referred to by tough-talking Teamster as a REAL BEAUT.
This may be my favorite Palin quote yet.
I've got nothing to lose in this, and I think America has everything to gain by understanding the differences, the contrasts here between Obama and McCain. So, you know, I'm going out there and I'm just simply speaking. So be it that I'm a simple talker, but I'm just going out there and letting people know the differences.
You really gotta love a lady who blurts out the truth, even when she thinks she's lying.
"So be it that I'm a simple talker."
"I've got nothing to lose."
I think one of the things that appeals so profoundly to Red State America is this: the woman is a walking, talking faux-pas machine. She knows so little that she doesn't even know when she has stepped in it. She is so intellectually incurious that they consider her "fresh" and "honest" and "just like us." It's like watching Goldie Hawn in her "Laugh-In" days in a movie where she's running for President.
Except: it's as real as a collapsing economy.
Sarah Palin is, truly, the American Idol candidate, growing more tiresome with every new appearance, and yet somehow glistening in the blissful hateful glow of her towering ambition.
She loves and admires herself as only a deeply stupid person can.
And then there's Todd.
