We all owe a debt of gratitude to Matt Drudge. For the last three days, he has been cherry picking the poll that shows the race closest. Today he is highlighting an AP Yahoo poll that shows 44 O - 42 M.
Yesterday, of course, he gave the full red font blazing headline about a 49-47 poll from Gallup using the traditional likely voter model.
I say we should thank him, because the big victory we all now expect will depend on busting the traditional "likely voter" paradigm and bringing out "unlikely" voters. Those new voters, in particular, need to feel that this race is close and that their vote will matter, since by definition they are not in the habit of "voting no matter what" -- like of most of the folks who visit this site. So keep it up, Drudge. Remind everyone that this election will indeed be close if the newly registered voters do not show up.
