There is no doubt about it, in fact I've said it before. There is a global economic crisis on our hands. This crisis threatens to not only destroy the economic foundation of the world but to trickle over into every area of our life.
As Americans and as Liberals we must learn to survive in the even that events become so dire that we must do so. It is important to survive not only at the personal level but at the movement level. Not only can a lack of understanding of survivalism cause us to die as people, but also as a movement and a political ideology.
Over the next several weeks I will specifically adress each issue that has to do with Survivalism in a post-"shit hit the fan" world.
Survivalism has been defined recently as a subculture of modern america. The "Freaks" and "Yahoos" that go around stocking food suplies, weapons, and such forth out of paranoia.
But beyond the anarchists, and religious cults at the fringe that usually practice survivalism, there is a close knit community of realists at the core that prefer to be safe rather than sorry.
I'm looking to bring realism to the face of survivalism amongst liberals and hopefully make a impact where many of us DailyKOSers and others are prepared for any situation.
The Core tenants of readiness I will be teaching about over the next month will involve maintaining not only food stocks that allow one to survive in the worst case of a lack of food supply, but also a focus upon geocentrism as self sufficiency via green farming practices and green energy sources.
Furthermore I will go into a at length discussion over hunting and fishing and self protection provisions. In a post-crisis world we may even see focused cleansing of anyone of Liberal philosophy. All the items discussed will be neccesary for survival.
I will also be talking about data backups, specifically keeping records of any texts, books, or any other data that may be lost during either accidental or deliberate wipeouts of Liberal information.
Hopefully after you finish reading this series you'll not only leave with a better understanding of self-suficiency and the danger posed in a post-crisis world. But also a knowledge of how to fend for yourself in the worse case no matter where you live. Urban or Rural area.
Next Week I will continue with the first part of the in depth series.
