Chuck Todd discussed the early voting on MSNBC today. McCain's options are swiftly dwindling and his lack of organization is not helping matters. Democrats exceeded Republicans and independents on the first day of North Carolina early voting by 28%. Keep in mind that Obama draws more independents than McCain.
Democrats requested three times as many early ballots as Republicans in Nevada. Early voting is up 50% in Texas, exceeding 300,000 people.
This doesn't necessarily mean that Obama already won the election. He does gain several advantages. There is a 0% chance of these voters feeling apathetic and staying home on Election Day. They also won't get frustrated by the projected lines where waits could exceed an hour.
Check this Roll Call article about Obama's ground game. It's a symbol of Democratic passion this year. Obama drew 100,000 people in St. Louis. McCain drew 6000 in the suburbs a few days later. Some reports have the number as low as 2500.
FiveThirtyEight traveled across the country all year outlined each campaign's volunteer efforts. Their Virginia piece sums up the intensity of their volunteer effort. "Win every single hour."
Obama raised $150 million in September. That's more than the top three movies grossed in September combined.
McCain needs a miracle to win this election. I'm talking about an earthquake striking Los Angeles so McCain can win California. Either that or all the young voters getting high and playing Little Big Planet all Election Day.
