Sarah sez, in response to a question to her and Todd about their knocked-up daughter, Bristol:
"I've always been a proponent of making sure kids understand -- even in schools -- they'd better take preventative measures so they don't find themselves in these less-than-ideal circumstances."
She then suggests Bristol could be a "good example" to other young women, and repeats that "preventative measures" should be taken.
A follow-up question: Abstinence or contraception?
"Well, both. Ideally abstinence. But we have not been ones to say that students should not know what preventative measures are all about."

These, of course, are seemingly sensible positions. That's what makes them remarkable for a right-wing nutjob running for VP.
I can understand that she'll say anything to get elected, but isn't she seriously straying off the GOP reservation here?

UPDATE 2.
I've changed the title of this diary.
The intention has been to point out that the Palins are pandering for votes, trying to give an impression of being moderates on an issue where the Republican Party, and the Palins in particular, have been radically out of the mainstream.
That's all it is. It's not an endorsement of the Palins' pretended change of heart or a suggestion that they are anything other than the lying nutjob fanatics they are.
I'm genuinely sorry for posting it.
