So if you haven't heard by now, Joe Biden has prophesized the future and invited a terrorist attack against our nation during the first six months of the Obama Administration.
The controversy stems from Biden's remarks in Seattle this past Sunday:
Mark my words. It will not be six months before the world tests Barack Obama like they did John Kennedy. The world is looking. Remember I said it standing here. if you don't remember anything else I said. Watch, we're gonna have an international crisis, a generated crisis, to test the mettle of this guy. And he's gonna have to make some really tough -- I don't know what the decision's gonna be, but I promise you it will occur. As a student of history and having served with seven presidents, I guarantee you it's gonna happen.
OH MY GOD! Biden has lost his damned mind!! The Obama campaign is OVER.
Or not.
Obama and Biden are about to inherit a huge clusterfuck from Bush and his incompetent administration.
They're inevitably going to have to make some tough and perhaps unpopular decisions in order to turn things around and affect change. Americans might have to (dare I say it) make some sacrifices and compromises. Those who have subscribed to the right wing ideology that has guided and influenced the last 8 years of our presidential politics will probably (shock) pout and feel alienated about losing power. Gee whiz, they might even judge an Obama administration harshly and question his judgments (as is their right-- this is a freaking democracy).
And, of course, Obama is likely to be tested by a significant crisis or event in his first six months in office. We're in the midst of a global economic meltdown, we're at war with two countries, our reputation internationally is one of imperialistic thuggery, and the planet is facing a climate crisis of epic proportions. Golly, what could possibly go wrong?
Biden was not inciting WWIII or inviting a terrorist attack, for crying out loud. He was being candid and honest about what the future likely holds. He's saying he thinks that while Obama is supremely qualified and up to the task of facing these challenges, well (my friends)... it ain't gonna be easy. (No doubt he'd be called arrogant and elitist if he claimed otherwise.) And, finally, it's going to require some patience and public support for when the honeymoon phase ends and things undoubtedly get tougher.
Hmmm... you know, come to think of it, I seem to remember that at one (more politically expedient) time, McCain himself praised the notion of such bold political candor and "straight talk."
I guess we can add "psychic friends" to the growing list of the McCain campaign's no-stick Obama/Biden labels (celebrities, elitists, terrorists, socialists, etc.). Seriously, what is the big deal here?
