I like to post positive stories; you know, the ones where everyone in the comments writes about how happy the story made them and all that.
But unfortunately, this story is not one of those. This one will probably piss you off, just like it pissed me off too.
One of the worst ads this election season, after the jump.
This is definitely below most of our radars, as it's a state-level race, but it's important to share. I stumbled upon this while reading Jonathan Martin's blog on Politico.
The race in question is for Texas State House, District 144. Joel Redmond, the Democratic challenger is facing Robert Talton, the incumbent Republican. Now, I'll confess I know pretty much nothing about this race or about either of the candidates.
But I do know that the attack goes beyond the pale, and according to Open Left, we know who's responsible for the mailer in question.
A group called "Empower Texans," chaired by Tim Dunn of Midland, an associate of Republican Texas House Speaker Tom Craddick, attacked Democratic state House candidate Joel Redmond of Pasadena with a direct mail piece...
So how bad could this ad be? Well, judge for yourself.
Notice anything about all the people that this ad is comparing Joel Redmond to? Yeah...
Again, I'll reiterate that I don't know much about this race, but I do know that these campaign tactics can't stand.
If you want to know more about Joel Redmond, his campaign site can be located at joelredmond.com.
So, of course, the positive note is that with this national election, we'll let the racists know that they're a dying breed and that these kind of tactics aren't going to work anymore.
