Mucho apologies if this has been diaried already.
So, we've heard so much about how the McCain-Palin campaign has "energized" their supporters, and about how there is so much "enthusiasm" coming from these people. You can probably guess that this enthusiasm pales in comparison to Obama's supporters. But you're still probably wondering how in the world ANYONE can be excited about an old crotchety senator and a witch-hunting, fundamentalist, secessionist. I mean, who would want to spend their time walking around and knocking on doors like Obama supporters? Who really cares that much about a bunch of lies taped together and sold as a presidential candidacy?
Well, this video seems to explain A LOT:
This probably won't get a lot of play in the media but this to me, is this year's Macaca moment. This is one of those moments where grassroots journalism uncovers something big, and the powers that be show their true fears for a bit.
The bigger picture here is of course that these people don't know what they're supporting. They're being paid to collect votes for politicians who will ruin their government, rob them of economic opportunity (college, jobs, etc.), and send all their country's wealth to gigantic multinational corporations who, this year, will shell out more than 61.2 billion dollars in bonuses despite their role in buying and selling obviously bad mortgages which destroyed the American economy.
Fuck these organizers, and fuck John McCain for selling out the American people when they need help the most. I had a hobby a couple years back when I only paid cursory attention to politics of making a list of all the things the Bush administration has done to make our country look worse. McCain hasn't even gotten into the White House yet and he's already done some pretty horrific stuff:
Palin.
Embracing the radical theocrat/econocrat/neocrat wing of his party.
Running nuthin' but negative.
Using robocalls.
Supporting voter suppression. (Yelling about the Acorn non-issue)
Abandoning his 2000 principles and going to Rove.
Palin.
