All three of these Senate races are within a few points per Nate Silver at fivethirtyeight.com.
These 3 races could bring the magic, to 60 in the Senate.
It's a given that KY and MS will not go for Obama, and questionable about GA, but should Barack and the rest of the campaign go there to help the Senatorial candidates?
It's perhaps two days, two days very well spent, to bolster that chances of Democrats taking those 3 crucial seats in the Senate.
So I say, yes. Do it.
Plan two days of concentrated campaigning by as many notable Democrats as possible, and pull in some notable Republicans as well to join them, if they can.
It very well could make the difference in these races.
I hope the Obama campaign is considering doing this.
One can choose to garner extra EVs, vs getting those crucial Senate seats. I think it's an effort well spent, to work towards the 60 seats.
Per the response, which is nearly universal - you folks that read the diary and understand it's about the Senate races [and in GA, possibly boosting a chance for an upset win for himself] the concensus is to take the 'safe path' and not give up two days to travel in these States and make an impact that could help bring about wins in those three Senate seats.
Oh well.
I stand by the idea. I think spending those 2 days would show a confidence, a boldness of leadership and impart a sense that this vision is not just limited to 'where he can win', but that Barack Obama wants to be a leader for the whole nation.
Never mind, I guess.

Final entry.
Have to run, must go do stuff in NH to make it a reality on the ground.

In six months, a year .. perhaps we can look back and ask ourselves was the extra 30 or 40 EVs worth it?
My opinion?
Winning by by 380 or 340 means little at the end of the day, compared to having those one, two or three more Senate seats.
The closer we get to 60, the more likely it is that those Republicans that remain, Republicans like Spector, Snowe, Collins will break away to vote with Democrats, or sit on their hands as Republicans try to filibuster.
In the the next 2 years, I think having those extra Senate seats is much more important than having the extra padding of 30 or 40 electoral votes.
