Greetings all!
This diary is a follow-up to yesterday's Obamapalooza Construction Diary about the rally in Grant Park on Election Day to celebrate the candidacy of Barack Obama.
Win or lose, it's gonna be a doozy.
Today with word from Mayor Daley that he is expecting ONE MILLION PEOPLE to hit the streets and grassy lawns of our front yard, I thought I'd provide an update on the venue.
As I noted yesterday, it's turning into Ringling Brothers on Hutchinson Field.
In this image above, it is difficult but not impossible to see the 12 tiered riser seating under the tent facing the stage. I'm not sure if this is a massive media section or a dignitary section. I'm taking an educated guess that it's for invited individuals, only because the risers are benches and not platforms.
Here it is from behind:
What I am fairly certain of is the massive media structure under construction, shown here in the background center. This 4 story tall building is nearly 75 yards in length and should adequately hold Shepard Smith's ego.
Here are a handful of what seem to be hundreds of electric generators and transformers waiting to be put to work, scattered around the park perimeter.
