No short diaries trying to predict EVs - join the FaceBook group called "Call the Race". Now, I'm an old fart but one of my nephews got me to join this group.
It asks you to upload a picture of the distribution of EVs after the race and then debate your version vs. others.
What I also find fascinating is the opportunity to test James Surowiecki's thesis (and here I borrow loosely) that the best way to a good prediction is to get as many people's input as possible - no matter they be expert, oldpert, inpert, poljunkie or guy on the street.
Someone's even uploaded the Weekly Reader poll!
A description from the Facebook site:
Just for Fun - Totally Random
Description:
We are in the closing days of the presidential election – less than two weeks to go! And since there are still plenty of states polling too close to call, I think it would be fun to make some electoral predictions.
Directions:
- Go to the CNN Map Calculator here: http://www.cnn.com/...
- Pick the states you think Obama and McCain will win
- When you’re done, click print screen to copy your map results
- Paste and save the image, then post it to this group’s picture folder
After November 4th we’ll see how the predictions stack up.
There are 18 maps there now (well, 20, but one is the "snapshot" from CNN on the date the group was created and another is a double-entry).
The big toss-up states there are
Missouri (9/18 have it blue)
Colorado (15/18 have it blue)
Florida (13/18 have it blue)
Ohio (11/18 have it blue)
Indiana (6/28 go blue)
Create your own map, and I'll post the stats!
