Well you would think that alaska would have enough common sense not to elect a felon to the senate.
If you thought they did you are wrong. The Race still has not been called for anyone but with 99% precincts reporting it looks like Ted Stevens will win the election.
As travis bushman noted these figures do not yet include early voting.
Stevens (Incumbent) 106,351 48%
Begich 102,998 47%
This was a really sad realization this morning. I went to bed at 4 in the morning hoping that if we could egg out victories with Franken, Begich and Merkley we could have the 60 we needed in the senate. Right now Franken sits just 757 votes behind Norm Coleman. This is really recount territory with over 3 million votes cast and yet only this small number of votes separates the two.
Coleman(Incumbent) 1,210,790 42%
Franken 1,210,028 42%
Barkley 437,146 15%
In Oregon Merkley looks a bit worse but with 74% precincts reporting it could slide back into our column.
Smith (Incumbent) 515,984 48%
Merkley 503,034 46%
While it seems very remote right now we could just fall short with 56 senate seats. We also have the 2 independents that caucus with the democrats so that cant move the number to 58 on our side. We NEED to win franken and Merkley.
