Some things that I have seen on the internet the past couple days has troubled me. Some people have been suggesting that we need to punish red states and reward blue states. I swear these people never listened to Obama and his message. Obama is not blowing smoke when he says "there are no red states, or blue states, there is only the United States of America" The Republicans have run the country the last eight years for themselves and for the red states. Bush was a red state President, not an American President. Obama is showing he is different. He will be a President of the United States, a President of all people. We should not be looking to punish red states, we should be looking to make them blue states!
As Democrats lets take the ingenious 50 state strategy for victory (God bless you Howard Dean!!) and turn it into the 50 state strategy for governing. Imagine, the 50 state strategy worked so well for us this year in the election. We were competitive in states we never thought possible, and we even managed to win some, and others come just so close. We won seats in places we never thought we would like Idaho. If we turn this Obama Presidency into a Presidency for the people, by the people, of the people, Obama truley will be one of the greatest Presidents we will ever have. So what if McCain won Montana by 3%....Bush won by 20%. Democrats are everywhere, not just blue states and although this election is pretty much over, we still have to get Obama and more democrats elected again in 2, 4, 6, and 8 years. I don't just want Obama to be the President, I want him to be one of the great Presidents we have ever had. I want to create an Obama legacy. I want Obama to be mentioned among the likes of FDR, and Kennedy. I want Obama to leave office in eight years as the most popular President of our times. When President Obama hands over the keys to the White House over to President-Elect Sebelius, I want everyone to know that eight years ago we stood at a crossroad and choose the right direction for America, all of America, not just the blue states or the red states. I want everyone, especially Republicans to agree that on Nov 4, 2008 we made the right decision in electing Obama. If we strive to punish red states, we only punish our own party and the certain defeats that we would receive there. So lets run the country as a country so that in 2012, there may be no red states.
