One of the lingering questions after the election is this: How do we keep people interested in politics, particularly younger voters?
Well, the Obama camp.. er.. administration is doing a pretty good job, especially with change.gov. Hopefully they'll continue to email updates to supporters and continue on Twitter.
But I realized there's another channel that has yet to be tapped.
When Obama's first radio address came out today, I couldn't help but think that radio addresses seem a little antiquated in this day and age. Hell, radio addresses are so... FDR.
But when a recording came out in MP3 format, it gave me an idea! Why not create an Obama Podcast? Just put up a recording of every Obama address and speech that comes out, and let people download them at their leisure and listen on the go.
This would allow people to listen to economic addresses on their commute or hear about foreign policy while in the gym. It is one step further in the democratization of media, a process which has made great strides in this election.
So yes, I'm posting this to promote the new podcast, but more importantly, to ask if there's anyone who'd like to help me on this project, as getting recordings of every speech could pose some challenge. Of course, maybe the Obama team will take it upon themselves to make a podcast, in which case I'd be happy to let them do all the work!
Anyway, the URL of the podcast is this: http://feeds.feedburner.com/...
Just copy that URL, open the Advanced menu of iTunes, and click on Subscribe to Podcast. Just paste this URL in the box, and you should be all set.
If anyone has any suggestions or wants to help, please let me know. We have a great opportunity to keep people in the loop, and keep them well-informed, which is the best way imaginable to help affect change.
