The Obama team is preparing to open a can of whuppass on Bush regulations and executive orders.
A story from the Washington Post reports that the Obama Administration will quickly reverse a slew of Bush executive orders concerning such issues as climate change, stem cell research, and reproduction rights among other issues.
A team of four dozen advisers, working for months in virtual solitude, set out to identify regulatory and policy changes Obama could implement soon after his inauguration. The team is now consulting with liberal advocacy groups, Capitol Hill staffers and potential agency chiefs to prioritize those they regard as the most onerous or ideologically offensive, said a top transition official who was not permitted to speak on the record about the inner workings of the transition.
Since many of these were executive orders they can be quickly reversed by issuing new orders. Other issues that were based on legislation may need more time to wind through the process. It will take time to undue the damage of eight years of governmental malfeasance.
This is another benefit to winning. People tend to forget how much a President can do with or with Congress.
