And no, it's not because he's gay.
This is something I didn't know about the Salvation Army, and it's really rocked my view of them.

The leader of the Oshkosh Salvation Army will lose his job if he goes ahead with plans to marry outside the organization.

I thought the Salvation Army was something like the Elks or such, a community service volunteer organization. I had no idea it was so rigidly organized.
All I know about them is the buckets at Christmas, the quaint uniforms, and the bands you see playing on corners. They're practically a cliche of Victorian-style Christmas. Their shelters and service are priceless, but now I'm wondering what else is going on with them.
