Just a throwaway thought, appropriate for 2 AM (ET) on a Saturday...
This site has always struggled with two not necessarily compatible paradigms: 1) Democratic party advocacy, and 2) progressivism. Despite sometimes intense battles, 2003 to Nov '06 was a time when enemies of enemies could be friends. From there to Jan '08 was fairly nasty, but Obama soon united folks under the banner of hope, something many progressives, though sometimes skeptical about the details, were so devoid of during the past near-decade, that they were willing to embrace. Anyway...
Point is, Obama has shown every sign of wanting to govern in the Bill Clinton mode. He is, of course, somewhat more progressive than Bill; much in the same way inflation raises the price of goods, the march of time, all else equal, inherently advances progressivism (occasional severe blips notwithstanding).
Bottom line:
"Warren-gate" and all the other minor "gates" will soon look like child's play after inauguration
Obama will, regardless, be 1 million times better than Bush
So Daily Kos will have to choose. Anti-Bushism will increasingly lose its relevance after Jan 2009. Daily Kos has always prided itself as being a counterwieght against the governing establishment. Does DK embrace the "getting Democrats elected" part of its foundation and pull weight for a center-leftist? Or does it go more toward the anti-DLC issue advocacy that it has sometimes heralded, maintaining an independence from the Obama administration?
Either way, look for blood in the aisles...
