I had "Huckabee" on in the background as I was working today (par-tee). It's an unintentionally hilarious show--Huckabee as the host of an event you would never, ever, want to attend.
It was the usual milquetoast parade of mediocrity until Ann Coulter showed up.
It started out as a big lovefest, then Huckabee comes right at her and gives her hell for slights during the campaign. It's something of an ambush, couldn't happen to a nicer, classier lady. It's awkward and ugly, by the end she's getting booed from the audience. I found it here:
A couple of observations:
...This is not the behavior of a winning party. This is what happens when your candidate lost, you have no real power anymore, and the bottom feeders start having it out.
...Toward the end Coulter tries to defend her role as extremist nutjob. "I am the enforcer...I keep Republicans on the straight and narrow." Self-aggrandizement comes naturally to her, but it feels desperate and weird here.
...Huckabee-who can count among his few winning characteristics a seemingly genuinely mild manner-is sincerely pissed off. Check him out at 5:17, he's exacting actual revenge.
Hot wingnut-on-wingnut action. It's not pretty watching a faux-movement disintegrate. But it's tons of fun.
