Do you think this was too much? I just sent this email to Senator Cox:
Vote for the budget.
I cannot stand this irresponsible grandstanding. It is time to get the budget passed and save the economy of our state.
I appreciate that you might be in the grip of the sickness that has taken over the Republican Party. But if you don't vote for this budget, I will remember your name and think of you with contempt always.
The Sacramento Bee is urging readers to call Senator Cox and urge him to "be a hero."
Hero? I'm sure I'm not the only Californian developing ulcers over the state's miserable financial situation. And the thing is, we all know it has been caused by Republicans and their insane fetish with taxes.
As The Bee states:
Without Cox' support, the entire compromise could unravel, bringing the state closer to a point where it runs out of money, with the governor threatening to lay off at least 10,000 state workers and taking other emergency measures.
A person isn't a hero because he doesn't drop a baby on its head. He is criminally negligent if he does.
Read that quote again: At least 10,000 people will lose their jobs. At least. And then think of the jobs that will be lost in the wake of all those lost jobs.
This is real. These are real people.
So here is the deal, Mr. Cox: Be a human being, and vote for the budget.
