Wow. I see that the Congressional Republicans' "just say no" strategy is really working wonders for them. While their approval ratings have trended down amongst their own rank and file voters (i.e., Republicans), the Democrats approval ratings have frickken doubled (amongst Democrats). And in only one month! When is the last time you've seen Congressional approval ratings go up, much less go up by a factor of two.
Gallup today reports that the approval rating for Congressional Dems more than doubled in a single month -- from 18 percent in January to 43 percent this month, probably on the strength of their push to pass the stimulus and other big-ticket legislation like childrens health insurance.
Over the same period, the GOP House and Senate approval slipped from 23 to 19 percent.
Republicans are losing steam, while Obama and Congressional Dems are gaining at astounding rates. It looks like Eric Cantor's knee-jerk opposition to Obama is working out just as well as Newt Gingrich's ill-fated attempts to shut down the government back in 1995.
