Yesterday the DEA raided Emmalyn's California Cannabis Clinic. There is at least one report of a couple arrests, but they aren't confirmed yet. The DEA did clean out the dispensary of Grow Lights, Plants and Inventory using several trucks. Most people who have been to Emmalyns know it as a low-key place with friendly staff who didn't hesitate to provide meds to those who couldn't afford it. They didn't usually have a lot of choices but what they did stock was excellent and not over-priced. It was the type of place most would want the country to use as a model. They were operating on a temporary permit issued by the Department of Public Health.
A G Holder has said that unless a dispensary was breaking BOTH State AND Federal Laws, they would be left alone. The rumor going around is that the Clinic was behind in it's State Sales Tax payments. If they are going to use the Tax laws to go after legal dispensarys, they will use any reason.
"Based on our investigation, we believe there are not only violations of federal law, but state law as well," DEA Special Agent in Charge Anthony Williams said in a prepared statement.
Williams, who runs the San Francisco field office that covers a territory stretching from Bakersfield to Redding, would not specify the alleged violations. The information was under court seal.
"As of now, we are prohibited from releasing further details of the case. Items of evidentiary value were seized and no arrests have been made," Williams said.
A source in San Francisco city government who was informed about the raid said the DEA's action appeared to be prompted by alleged financial improprieties related to the payment of sales taxes. DEA Special Agent Casey McEnry, spokeswoman for the local office, would not comment on that information. DEA raids pot dispensary in SF
When our Gov. went after Crime Boss Al Capone they used the US Tax Code to finally put him away. I believe it's a sad day when compassionate people providing medical marijuana to those in need have to waste time and money fighting unwarranted charges. It's not as if there isn't enough Meth, Crack, and Heroin on the streets that needs to be cleaned up. The DEA should better spend their time and our money going after the Hard Drugs if they really have to bust someone. For them tp go after the public and legal dispensarys only can mean one of 3 things. Either they are too lazy to go out and look for the real bad guys, they have chosen to ignore the Atty Gen., or the Atty Gen. fed us a bunch of crap. Of course it could be all three, which is the way I'm leaning this AM.

I would of asked that during the next Online Town Meeting you ask these questions but Pres. Obama only answered 2 or 3 questions this time around so that would be a waste of time.
