They continue to write the jokes themselves.
Of course it is April Fool's Eve.
CNN is reporting that Sarah Palin will not deliver the keynote addreess at an upcoming "DeeCee" (as the governor calls it) fundraiser for Republicans in Congress
Here is the link
Sarah Palin will no longer headline a major Republican dinner in June, a Republican official told CNN Tuesday.
Former House speaker Newt Gingrich will replace Palin as the keynote speaker at a joint fundraising dinner held by the campaign committees of Senate and House Republicans.
The scheduling change follows a communications breakdown between Palin's political staff and her aides in Alaska that left the dinner's organizers unsure the Alaska governor would actually attend the Washington event.
Apparently an NRSC press relaease had already been put out announcing the Palin appearance at the event, but Palin knew nothing about it. It seems there is a total breakdown in communications within the Republican Party.
The three sides (or four?) in this game offer completely different accounts of what happened.
According to NRSC spokesperson Brian Walsh:
"After initially confirming her attendance, Governor Palin's team informed the Committees that her gubernatorial responsibilities in Alaska prevented her from committing until the end of the legislative session," he said.
According to NRCC spokesperson, Ken Spain, the group decided to:
"go in another direction."
"Speaker Gingrich is a leader and an influential voice within the Republican Party and we are thrilled to have him," he said.
According to Palin spokesperson Meghan Stapleton of SarahPAC:
"The Governor never confirmed her attendance at the event,"
According to another Palin Aide:
"I communicated with the governor directly and she did not know anything about it,"
Does this remind anyone of a group of hapless criminals being interrogated in separate rooms who cannot come close to keeping their story straight?
I suspect this is the end of Palin as a natinal figure. The question is, whose choice was it, hers or the GOP's. Let's hope they are now pinning their hopes on the Newt.
