Larry Summers has taken a leave of absence from his post chief White House economic adviser for 5 weeks of in-patient treatment for a gambling addiction. The White House released a brief statement too late in the day to be included in the network evening news broadcasts. Not surprisingly Summers couldn't be reached for comment.
Summers' associates were shocked to learn of his internet gambling addiction. According to one White House staffer "Larry seemed utterly exhausted lately. We all just assumed the economic crisis was taking its toll, but we never imagined that he really was up all night making big bets in an internet casino located in the Cayman Islands"

Apparently Summers ran up a huge tab online too, big enough for the F.B.I. to get wind of it and alert Rham and the President. While I'm relieved Summers is gone (at least temporarily) this is bound to make to Obama White House's vetting process look bad, but then I thought Summers selection made the vetting process look bad anyway.
