The first thing that happened was that the Universe and the Earth were created, don’t know how, and never will. The next thing that happened was that Nature created the Cannabis plant. Next came Nature’s most wondrous creation (what else would a human say?): Mankind. The next thing that happened was that Human Beings randomly started to ingest the Cannabis plant. Many of those who did ingest the Cannabis plant decided that it was good, good to ingest the Cannabis plant.
Thousands of years passed, year upon year, decade upon decade, century upon century, and various people utilized the Cannabis plant. Of course, many people ingested it all along, appreciating the benefits of the soothing herb. But clever Humans, they realized that the plant was wonderfully useful for many other applications. It was a fine food, its seed containing healthy oils and nutritious fatty acids. So generation upon generation took their turn at propagating prosperity, and all the while nary a thought was given by clusters of busybodies with little else to do but worry about what others might be doing for fun or health care.
And then there came Mr. Anslinger, the first American drug-warrior. And with the whiff of political expediency discovered by him and his ilk, a "drug war" was born. So, here were innocent, ordinary, productive (more or less to be sure, but then it’s always that way, with or without the Cannabis plant) people, merrily living their lives, and then some control-interested people, having experienced some set of circumstances that led them to a conclusion that it would be best to punish those who might decide to ingest the Cannabis plant, went ahead and got instituted a prohibition against growing, having or using the Cannabis plant... for any of it’s wonderful uses.
And here is the egregious, outrageous, unjust, unconstitutional moment, a moment that should be unacceptable to all freedom loving Humans, the moment where one person dared to punish another for their personal, private decision to ingest the Cannabis plant. And from that moment forward there was a war on drugs, or more accurately a war on drug users. And the war yielded profits. It wielded profits only for a few at first. Then the profits grew. And they grew and they grew and they grew! They grew so big that whole nations and large populations found themselves entwined in a web of commerce, legal and illicit, depending on the demeanor of the authorities of the time and place. And some profited, while others suffered.
But the bottom line has always been, and still remains, that those in charge can decide when to prosecute, whom to prosecute, and when to look the other way, or even to become complicit in the black market trade of the "controlled substance." And the vast unempowered, cowardly would-be tyrants can selectively choose to hold the same depraved attitude towards those who seek to experience the benefits of the Cannabis plant, created by Nature, long before any Human existed... and they can use the unjust Law to harm the innocent partakers of this amazing, natural herb, thus satisfying their pathetic need to exercise control over others, to make themselves feel less insecure.
Please Mr. President Obama, do the right thing and re-legalize the Cannabis plant. To not do so is hypocritical. To not do so is unjust.
Cannabis re-legalization could only be beneficial to the state of the nation. It can relieve pressure on the justice system and bring us closer to real justice in America. It can help strengthen our economy. It can bring relief to millions of sick people! Cannabis re-legalization can relieve overcrowded prisons, which are crammed with non-violent Cannabis users, even while violent criminals are set free for lack of space to incarcerate them. Cannabis is good for the environment in many ways. America's founding fathers grew it happily and eagerly, knowing it was beneficial and vital to their economy and their world.
Petition this President. He must be smart enough to understand all this. And he probably does not want to be a hypocrite. Rather he probably does want for justice to prevail. Petition him to re-legalize the Cannabis plant. You must know friends and relatives that are peaceful, innocent Cannabis users... do the right thing for them! PLEASE!
